Peaks and Valleys: An Analysis of Price Trends in Used Juniper Hardware, Post-Pandemic

In the world of used Juniper hardware, the past six months have witnessed a remarkable shift in the pricing landscape. A steady decline in market prices has left network administrators and IT procurement specialists both intrigued and pleasantly surprised. What's driving this downward price pressure in the realm of pre-owned Juniper equipment?

Arista DCS-7060CX-32S-R and Juniper QFX5200-32C: 100G delivered

As 2020 saw slowly growing demand for 100G switching in the secondary market, 2021 has seen Arista price jumps at 2x to 3x in comparison to the year before. Dense, smaller 1RU 100G switches from Juniper, like the Juniper QFX5200-32C, remain more expensive than the similarly spec’d Arista DCS-7060CX-32S-R. Both OEM offerings provide 100Gbe, 40Gbe, 4x10Gbe, 4x25Gbe, or 2x50Gbe support with only slight differences in delivery.

The QFX5120 and QFX5110: There’s no better season to ‘switch’ with Juniper

It’s no doubt been a year not to remember. And while the holidays may be a nice reminder that 2020 is almost over, they are also a great time to take a look at some pretty joyous things that have been coming down the networking chimney from Juniper Networks in recent weeks.

CFP2 vs. QSFP28 For Your 100G Needs

CFP2 vs. QSFP28: Which Transceiver Should You Choose on Your Path to 100G?

So you want to add more 100G capabilities to your network, right? If you answered yes, (and we’re betting you did,) you’re not alone--according to a recent IHS Infonetics report, 100G will account for more than 50% of the data center fiber transceiver market by 2019.

Redundancy (and Power Backup) in Juniper MX Series Routers

A whole lot of people are using the word “redundant” incorrectly. Unique individual? Redundant. Advance planning? Redundant. Two powers in a Juniper MX480 chassis? NOT redundant. For full redundancy in the larger MX units, you’re going to have to have all the power slots populated. Here’s how it works.

Juniper EX4500-40F-BF-C: What's in a name?

We've just landed a few more EX4500-40F-BF-C 10gig SFP+ switches. These newer -C versions of the EX4500 allow for convergence with hardware support for DCB (data center bridging, or CEE), which is required to transport storage traffic over IP/Ethernet networks. These particular units carry the BF (back-to-front) airflow designation. Loaded with 40 fixed 10Gbe pluggable ports, you can also add up to 8 more ports of 10gbe by using EX4500-UM-4XSFP modules.
