Brocade FastIron Edge Series - Base Layer 3 Product Family Switches

The FastIron Edge switch family of stackable switches delivers cost effective workgroup connectivity configurations, including the industry's first 96-port 10/100 Ethernet switch with four media-flexible Gigabit Ethernet interfaces (1000Base-T ports and GBIC-based 1000Base-X included).

Not only does this stackable product family deliver Foundry's industry-known performance and features, these products share the ability to have internal, hot-swappable AC/DC power supplies, making this product family the ideal choice for high reliability workgroup computing.

FastIron Edge Series products deliver wire-speed Layer 2 / Base Layer 3 functionality including multiple levels of hardware and software resiliency, support for redundant AC and DC power supply units, configurable levels of IronShield security, Access Control List (ACL) processing, inbound port-based rate limiting and Flow traffic monitoring - all in a compact form factor. These switches are upgradeable to Full Layer 3 IPv4 software (including RIPv1/v2, OSPFv2, PIMSM/ DM and DVMRP multicast and VRRPE) with the appropriate FES3LU upgrade option.

All units ship with a console cable and US power cord unless otherwise specified at time of order. All orders include one (1) integral power supply, manual on CD-ROM, and rack mount kit. These switches may be upgraded with a redundant, hot-swappable power supply.

A whole lot of people are using the word “redundant” incorrectly. Unique individual? Redundant. Advance planning? Redundant. Two powers in a Juniper MX480 chassis? NOT redundant. For full redundancy in the larger MX units, you’re going to have to have all the power slots...
