FastIron SuperX/SX Family Chassis and Bundles

FastIron SuperX/SX family of layer 2/3 swiches includes the FastIron SuperX, FastIron SX 800, FastIron SX 1600 modular systems. These products enable customers to deploy a VoIP-ready infastructure featuring scalable and resilent Power over Ethernet switching and a rich feature set to secure and simplify network convergence from edge to core. Advanced IronWare software featuring Full Layer 3 IPv4 or IPv6 routing is available as a pre-configured option at the time of purchase (-PREM models) or may be purchased separately for a field upgrade. The FastIron SuperX/SX products are available in IPv4 and IPv6-Capable hardware configurations. The IPv6-capable models are hardware ready to support IPv6 routing. Actual IPv6 routing operation will require the purchase of an IPv6 routing upgrade. All FastIron SuperX/SX products support Layer 2 switching of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic and Layer 3 routing of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic with appropriate software upgrade.

Some older SFP modules have latching mechanism which are larger than the newer parts. These latches could interfere with one another when inserted side by side into a SuperX module. Avoid using these SFPs side by side in the same module. These older modules are identified by the number PL-XPL-00-S13-22 or PL-XPL-00-L13-23 above the Serial Number. The newer SFPs which do not have this limitation have a number starting with SL4114A below the bar code.

Note:1 These chassis models may be configured with either all IPv4 modules or all IPv6-ready modules (i.e., line modules and management modules) These products are capable of Layer 2 switching of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic and Layer 3 routing of IPv4 traffic. If the application requires IPv6 Layer 3 operation please refer to the FastIron SuperX/SX models that are identified as hardware ready for IPv6 Layer 3 routing.

FastIron SuperX/SX Family Management Modules (IPv4) and L3 IPv4 Upgrade

Note 3: With the exception of the SX-FIZMR, the following management modules are not IPv6-ready and may only be used in systems configured with IPv4 line modules. The SX-FIZMR and may be configured in systems with all IPv4 line modules or all IPv6 ready line modules.

These products are capable of Layer 2 switching of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic and Layer 3 routing of IPv4 traffic. If the application requires IPv6 Layer 3 operation please refer to the FastIron SuperX/SX models that are identified as hardware ready for IPv6 Layer 3 routing.
