FastIron GS
The FastIron GS Series are compact Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches designed for flexible convergence solutions at the network edge. FastIron GS series is available in PoE ready and PoE upgradeable models. The PoE upgradeable models support 20 or 44 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports plus 4 combo copper/fiber Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps (RJ45) or 100/1000 Mbps Ethernet Fiber (SFP) connectivity. The PoE ready models support 20 or 44 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 802.3af PoE ports plus 4 combo copper/fiber Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps (RJ45) 802.3af PoE or 100/1000 Mbps Ethernet Fiber (SFP) connectivity. In addition, the FastIron GS Series switches support an optional field- upgradeable 2-port 10GbE module for converged 10/100/1000 Mbps network access solutions and the flexibility to support 10-GigE. The FastIron GS624XGP models include an additional factory installed 10GbE XFP port for high density 10GbE.
The PoE upgradeable models are field-upgradeable to support PoE providing a flexible solution for customers that want to upgrade to PoE after deployment. In addition, the FastIron GS series can be field-upgraded to support IronStack, Foundry’s stacking solution. With IronStack, up to 8 FastIron GS series switches can be stacked together operating as a single logical chassis. IronStack supports both PoE and non-POE units in a single stack, providing greater deployment flexibility to customers.
The FastIron GS Series switches deliver advanced Layer 2, Base Layer 3 and Edge Layer 3 (EdgePREM) features based on the company’s field-proven IronWare networking software. Base Layer 3 features include IPv4 static routes, RIP route advertisement, VRRP, virtual and routed interfaces, ECMP and DHCP relay. EdgePREM software includes IPv4 routing features such as OSFP and RIPv1/v2 in addition to features supported in Base Layer 3. The EdgePREM software can either be pre-installed or can be upgraded in the field via the EdgePREM upgrade kit
IronStack enabled switches support Layer 2 and Base Layer 3 software features. The EdgePREM software is not available on IronStack enabled/upgraded switches.
All units ship with a console cable and US power cord unless otherwise specified at time of order. All orders include one (1) modular AC power supply, manual on CD-ROM and rack mount kit. Pluggable 10-GbE modules, SFP and XFP optics and additional CX4 cables are optional and must be purchased separately.
